Intramural Sports Sign-Ups Until Feb 18

Sign-Up by February 18 for Field Hockey, Flag Football, Volleyball, and Track & Field which will begin their 6-week season on March 14.  (The Soccer club will also continue to meet during the Intramural season.)  These sports were selected because this is the off-season for most of these coaches at TC and they are available after school.  (Track & Field will be coached by PE teachers.)  The advantage of having TC coaches involved in our Intramural program is that students will benefit from their specialized expertise, and students will begin to build relationships with coaches that they may encounter later on in their school careers.

Intramurals are for any student who wants to try a new sport, as well as students who already enjoy a sport and may be thinking about participating in that sport at TC as 8th-Graders.  No experience is required, and no equipment is necessary, although students signing up for field hockey are encouraged to bring their own equipment if they have it already.

Below is a link to the permission form that all students must return to school by February 18 and a video that was shown to kids during PACE class on Friday.  Please encourage your child to sign up for one or more of the offerings.  This is a great opportunity for them to make new friends, exercise and perhaps participate in a sport that becomes a lifelong endeavor.

The PTA's Intramural Committee, led by Vaughn Jordan Mackay, has been working hard this year, in conjunction with our administrators and the T.C. Athletic Director, Steve Colantuoni, to expand and improve the middle-school Intramural offerings.  Dr. Sherman has made this a personal priority, and has found funding to pay a stipend to a PE teacher at each school to coordinate the Intramural program, stipends for T.C. coaches to coach the 6-week middle-school programs, and the costs of additional after-school buses.

Thank you.
